The 2019 World Development Report (WDR) will look at the changing landscape of work and explore the implications for future labor markets. Increasing automation, the rise of the gig economy, and shifts in global trade and investment, as well as demographic change and urbanization, are all shaping demand and supply for different skillsets. The Report will analyze the impact of these forces, showcase data on returns to experience, and consider how individuals, companies and governments can respond. Consultations will open in February 2018 upon release of the briefing materials. More information will be posted on the Consultation Hub in the coming weeks.

Consultations for Poland Country Partnership Framework (CPF) 2018-2023

The World Bank Group has launched a preparation process for its new partnership framework with Poland. The process involves consultations with different stakeholders, including the government, international financial institutions, civil society and private sector, to exchange views on the country’s development opportunities and how the World Bank Group can help address them.

BACKROUND

The World Bank Group is currently designing its new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Poland for the period of July 2018 to June 2023. The CPF will guide the Group’s program for the country and gauge its effectiveness in boosting shared prosperity.

Poland has already reached high-income status. But making it future-ready requires addressing complex problems and challenges, including dramatic demographic shifts, significant regional disparities and transition to a low-emissions economy.

The CPF is selective in that it focuses on specific objectives where there is the greatest development need, where the government sees catalytic roles for the World Bank Group’s support, and where the Group itself has distinct value.

CONSULTATIONS

Consultations include both face-to-face meetings with different stakeholders, including the government, international financial institutions, civil society and private sector, as well as online consultation platform.

The online process started February 12, 2018 to and will run through March.

The objective of the online consultation is to seek broader feedback and comments from all interested parties, locally and internationally, on the presentation of the CPF (attached in the MATERIALS section on the right). We expect to hear views from various groups and individuals to finalize the document and make it more relevant for the country, as well as to use these views as an instrument to measure progress in achieving our objectives in the country.
