Association for the Development of Education in Africa, Dakar

The WDR Co-Directors presented the main themes of the WDR 2018 to delegates attending the meeting of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa.  The presentation was followed by a Q&A session. Participants included representatives from African governments, civil society organizations, international organizations, bilaterals, private sector and foundations, and academics.  Additional photos can be found on this Facebook page.

Global Partnership for Education Board

The WDR Co-Directors presented the main themes of the WDR 2018 to the Board members of the Global Partnership for Education, meeting in Washington, DC.  The GPE Board includes members from developing country governments and all development partners: donors, civil society organizations, private sector and foundations, and multilateral agencies and regional banks.

The WDR Co-Directors held a Video Conference at the request of several members of the Global Campaign for Education who were meeting in London. A presentation of the main themes of the WDR 2018 was followed by a Q&A session.

Aga Khan Foundation meeting with Canadian CSOs

The Aga Khan Foundation organized and hosted an informal discussion of the WDR 2018 with Canadian civil society organizations. The WDR Co-Directors presented the main themes of the WDR 2018 which was followed by a Q&A session.

Brookings CUE
February 14, 2017
The Brookings Institution Center for Universal Education organized and hosted a half-day event to discuss the main themes of the WDR 2018 and to go into depth on some aspects of those themes.  The WDR Co-Directors presented an overview of the themes and took questions and comments from the participants.  This was followed by break-out sessions where WDR Team Members separately presented and discussed specific themes.

Mexico Conference on Political Economy of Education

WDR Team Members presented the main themes of the WDR 2018, with a focus on those most relevant to the theme of this conference, which was followed by a Q&A session. Conference participants included primarily academics and researchers.

Jakarta

The World Bank's Jakarta office organized an informal discussion of the WDR 2018 with representatives of government, civil society organizations and researchers. The WDR Co-Directors presented the main themes of the WDR 2018 which was followed by a Q&A session.

Bangkok, UNESCO office

The World Bank's Bangkok office organized an informal discussion of the WDR 2018, hosted by UNESCO’s Bangkok office, with representatives of civil society organizations and international organizations. The WDR Co-Directors presented the main themes of the WDR2018 which was followed by a Q&A session.

Tokyo (JICA)
November 22, 2016
Japan’s International Cooperation Agency organized and hosted a workshop on the topic of education in low- and middle-income countries, highlighting research supported by JICA relevant to the WDR 2018.  Participants included JICA staff, academics, and researchers.  The WDR Co-Directors participated as discussants on the various presentations.

Tokyo (WB office)

The World Bank’s Tokyo office organized and hosted an informal discussion of the WDR 2018 with representatives of civil society organizations and researchers. The WDR Co-Directors presented the main themes of the WDR2018 which was followed by a discussant’s presentation and a Q&A session.

Finland
November 17, 2016
Finland’s Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, organized and hosted an informal discussion of the WDR 2018.  Participants included government officials, as well as representatives from non-government organizations and civil society organizations.  The WDR Co-Directors presented the main themes of the WDR2018 which was followed by a a Q&A session.

Berlin
November 16, 2016
The Development Policy Forum of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the World Bank and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), organized a one-day workshop to discuss the themes of the WDR 2018.  The WDR Co-Directors presented an overview of the themes of the WDR 2018, heard discussants’ comments, and then took questions and comments from the participants.  This was followed by sessions where WDR Team Members separately made more in-depth presentations, heard discussants’ comments, and took questions and comments related to specific themes. Participants included government officials, as well as representatives from non-government organizations, civil society organizations, and academics and researchers.
