Cote d'Ivoire : Country Partnership Framework

Toward the Preparation of a New World Bank Group Strategy

The World Bank Group (WBG) has launched the preparation process for its new partnership strategy with Cote d’Ivoire. The process involves two phases: (i) the Systematic Country Diagnostic which will identify the country’s key development constraints and priorities; and (ii) the elaboration of the Country Partnership Framework which will determine the WBG's specific engagement with Cote d’Ivoire.

National Consultations on Phase 1 Closed on September 30, 2014

From September 10 to 30, 2014, The World Bank Group (WBG) held public consultations to help identify the key challenges and opportunities for accelerating progress towards eliminating extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity in Cote d'Ivoire.  A series of meetings took place in Abidjan with different key stakeholders, including the government, the parliament, civil society, the private sector, development partners, etc.. Other multistakeholders meetings were organized in Bouake and Gagnoa to better understand the development constraints and challenges that the populations are facing on the ground.

These consultations are part of Phase 1 ("Systematic Country Diagnostics - SCD") of the preparation process for the new World Bank Group strategy for Cote d'Ivoire, which consisted mainly in seeking participants' views on Cote d'Ivoire's key development challenges and opportunities that need to be taken into consideration to accelerate progress towards eliminating extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity.

The SCD team has received important contributions from all stakeholders consulted (face-to-face and online) and is now analyzing these.  The main consultations report is being finalized and will be published online. In the meantime, the compilation of all contributions received online is available for consultation (see under "MATERIALS" in the sidebar column on the right).

The main PowerPoint presentation that guided the various meetings is provided online (in French) (under "MATERIALS" in the sidebar column on the right) for consultation.

The World Bank Group appreciates and expresses its sincere thanks to all those who contributed to this first phase of the ongoing strategy preparation process.
