As South Sudan faces economic, political and social challenges, the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Government of the Republic of South Sudan are preparing a Country Engagement Note (CEN) to guide its support to the country’s development efforts. The CEN objectives reflect the World Bank Group’s ability to leverage various stakeholders, as well as the country’s self-identified development objectives.
We would like to hear your views on South Sudan’s priorities and the role the World Bank Group can play in helping the country achieve its development goals. We welcome the views of all South Sudan’s stakeholders on the country's development agenda, as well as recommendations on what you see as key challenges and opportunities.
The online consultation period is open from November 11, 2020 to November 30, 2020.
Here are some ideas to think about:
- The World Bank Group's twin goals are to end extreme poverty by 2030 and promote shared prosperity. To contribute to these goals in South Sudan, in which three priority areas should the World Bank Group focus its attention and resources on over the next two years?
- Which policies or investments would help the country to better achieve the highest return in terms of creating opportunities for and supporting those at the bottom of the income distribution?
Let us know what you think!
The Consultation Process
Given the COVID-19 related restrictions, the consultation process is mainly being conducted through online/web-based platforms. A series of consultations with the government of South Sudan, civil society and non-governmental organizations, private sector, academia, think tanks, development partners and opinion groups have been planned.
