New Strategy for The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): The World Bank Group is Listening to You

We Want to Hear From You

Help us analyze the economic and social situation of the Democratic Republic of Congo by answering a few questions.

The World Bank Group is preparing a document called the Country Partnership Framework to guide its strategy and support for the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC’s) development from 2018 to 2023. We are in the process of hearing your views regarding your country’s priorities and the role the World Bank can play in helping the DRC meet its development goals.

As a first step, the World Bank is preparing a Systematic Country Diagnostic (SCD) study for DRC. This study aims to identify the constraints that prevent the country from reaching its full economic potential, and it also identifies opportunities and priority areas to help the DRC create inclusive growth. The World Bank has already consulted a wide range of stakeholders—members of civil society included—to take your suggestions into account. The SCD study (the first document we will produce) will be publicly available by the end of December 2017, and will be shared on this platform.

In the meantime, we are also asking stakeholders for information to put into the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) strategy we mentioned above. This second document will be the foundation for how the World Bank can support the DRC to tackle its development challenges and meet the World Bank’s goals of ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity.

The first phase of consultations will be held in November 2017 and the second phase in January 2018 at national and provincial levels—with members of government, civil society, the private sector, academics, young people, women, and others—on the country's development agenda. Your  recommendations will be heard about new opportunities and challenges.

The World Bank will continue to update the information on this platform and post key documents about the process as our work advances.

SHARE YOUR VIEWS – Let us know what you think!

The online consultation period is open until Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Here are some ideas you could think about:

  • What are the main development challenges that our new strategy should address to support the development of the DRC for 2018-2023?
  • In your opinion, what are the most important reforms that the government should put in place?
  • What should we change to improve the effectiveness of our programs?
  • What results should we achieve to have a transformational impact in Congo’s development?
