The proposed Gender Strategy 2024-30 puts forward the bold ambition to accelerate gender equality for a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future in alignment with the World Bank Group Evolution Roadmap. The Strategy responds to the global urgency, fundamentality, and complexity of achieving gender equality. 

The proposed Gender Strategy 2024-30 emphasizes innovation, financing, and collective action to end gender-based violence, elevate human capital, expand and enable economic opportunities, and engage women as leaders. 

Building on the implementation of the Gender Strategy 2016-23, the new Strategy proposes to engage with greater ambition and differently – approaching gender equality for all as essential for peaceful, prosperous and livable world.

The World Bank Group held informal dialogues with external stakeholders that informed development of the draft World Bank Group (WBG) Gender Strategy 2024-2030 ‘Accelerate Gender Equality to End Poverty on a Livable Planet’. The informal discussions included engagements during the yearlong Accelerate Equality initiative in 2022, and over forty discussions between January and July 2023.

Formal consultations on the Draft Gender Strategy were open from July to November 30, 2023, and targeted a wide range of stakeholders, including government counterparts, beneficiaries, development partners, CSOs, youth activists, feminist groups, academics, and the private sector. This included:

• Country consultation missions to seek input and feedback from a broad group of stakeholders and support a collaborative process of listening to diverse perspectives, especially from voices that may not always be heard
• Global events, bilateral meetings, and virtual consultations
• Feedback statement by email

Summaries of inputs received

Feedback received from both face-to face and virtual meetings with stakeholders on the draft Gender Strategy will be available on this website and will help inform the final Gender Strategy.
