The World Bank is preparing a new Gender Strategy 2024-2030: Accelerate Gender Equality for a Sustainable, Resilient and Inclusive Future.
The Strategy is being shaped by extensive and inclusive engagement with public and private sector clients, development partners, civil society, and other key stakeholders.
The World Bank formal consultation process is open until November 30, 2023. You can also provide feedback through a Survey below until October 15, 2023.
The draft Gender Strategy 2024-30 puts forward the bold ambition to accelerate gender equality for a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future in alignment with the World Bank Evolution Roadmap. The Strategy responds to the global urgency, fundamentality, and complexity of achieving gender equality.
The draft Gender Strategy 2024-30 emphasizes innovation, financing, and collective action to end gender-based violence, elevate human capital, expand and enable economic opportunities, and engage women as leaders.
Building on the implementation of the Gender Strategy 2016-23, the new Strategy proposes to engage with greater ambition and differently – approaching gender equality for all as essential for peaceful, prosperous and livable world.

Formal consultations
The formal consultations, from July to November 30, 2023, target a wide range of stakeholders, including government counterparts, beneficiaries, development partners, CSOs, youth activists, feminist groups, academics, and the private sector.

Country consultations
The World Bank is undertaking a series of country consultation missions to seek input and feedback from public and private sector stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries to ensure that the Gender Strategy is informed by a broad range of voices and experiences.
World Bank Country offices will guide priority themes and meetings with stakeholders to align engagement with country context and World Bank gender equality work and contribute to advancing the gender dialogue.

Informal consultations
From January 2022 to July 2023, the World Bank held informal dialogues with dozens of stakeholder groups to learn more about priorities and opportunities to advance gender equality and empowerment through the World Bank Gender Strategy.
