There is broad recognition that the world must do more to address the crises facing development. The devastating impacts of climate change, fragility, debt, pandemics, and other threats to our natural world require a significant shift in the global response. The World Bank is central to these efforts, and our shareholders, clients, and partners, want us to be able to do more for global public goods.

The World Bank is undergoing an evolution process centered around the need to become a “better and bigger bank” that is fit-for-purpose to respond to the most pressing needs of people and the planet. The Bank is developing a new playbook that emphasizes delivering impact at scale for client countries, allowing the World Bank to work more efficiently and effectively.

The World Bank Group’s public consultation period on the Evolution Process closed on July 31, 2023. Regional consultations began in July (see Phase 2 tab), building on the Evolution Forum held in Washington DC on April 11. Thank you for your participation. Your contributions are valuable to us. Below you will find a list of completed meetings along with videos and summaries of consultation sessions and related documents as they become available.

Consultations with a wide range of stakeholders were conducted to seek input on the World Bank’s Evolution process. Consultations were held online and face-to-face in July 2023, in all seven regions of the Bank’s work reaching close to 1,000 stakeholders from over 90 countries from across the world.

The period of consultations concluded on July 31, 2023, to allow sufficient time to analyze and incorporate feedback in the Development Committee paper ahead of the 2023 Annual Meetings in Marrakesh.
